s e w : g o o d

Hello Hello! This is my first post on my brand new blog - so I feel a little obligated to tell you why I'm starting it. Well, all of my life I've been raised around sewing needles, scraps of cloth, and spools of thread. Both my mother and my grandfather owned their own tailoring businesses and even as a kid I made alot of my own clothing for my toys ( some of which made it into a magazine that my sister and I made, but thats another story).

This blog was created to document some of my sewing adventures - because only recently have I noticed that I take a lot of projects on!

Right now I'm finishing up some alterations on a late 60's dress I bought at a flea market. This morning I took in the sides, extended the darts, and started measuring the bottom for a shorter hemline. I adore this dress and I've been itching to wear it (but with finals coming up, I haven't had the chance to fix it- until today! HORAY). mm mmm! I love the geometric shapes and simplicity of it :]

So after a breakfast of french toast with sliced bananas and a light cup of coffee, I went to opening seams and pining things. The dress even had a working union tag (that I removed from the old seam and sewed back onto the new one) !!

I hope to finish up everything so I can wear it over the weekend. I'll have to take some pictures and post them!

Ta ta for now :]
